Oakland Police Search for Suspect in Series of Prowling and Peeping Incidents
Authorities in Oakland are investigating a string of troubling prowling incidents and are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect accused of spying on residents inside their homes.
The Oakland Police Department announced Tuesday that officers have received at least six reports since mid-December involving a man allegedly entering private yards, peering through windows while occupants were inside, and engaging in lewd or inappropriate conduct. Investigators say the repeated incidents have left neighbors unsettled.
According to residents, the suspect has been seen multiple times along Allendale Avenue. Police added that the most recent sightings occurred in the Maxwell Park neighborhood, typically between the hours of 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
To address safety concerns, officials have increased patrols in the affected areas as they work to determine the suspect’s identity. The individual was last described as wearing a black jacket layered over a white sweatshirt, along with blue jeans.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incidents or the suspect to contact authorities as the investigation continues.
