Bay Area fire officials warn fire danger is only getting worse

Sunday was a busy day for firefighters across the Bay Area, and fire officials said the fire danger is only getting worse.

Firefighters from San Jose to Santa Rosa were chasing grass fires since Sunday morning.

San Jose firefighters were able to contain a fire near Communications Hill to just under 8 acres, where four different fire starts converged into one larger grass fire.

The cause is under investigation.

In the North Bay, Santa Rosa fire crews quickly attacked another grass fire, and stopped it from spreading to fewer than 2 acres.

With temperatures getting up into the 90s and even approaching triple digits in some areas later this week, fire agencies statewide are ramping up training and getting that equipment ready.
