1 dead following early morning collision in Santa Cruz County

A 45-year-old man died in a collision in Santa Cruz County early Sunday morning while traveling northbound on Graham Hill Road around 2:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man’s 2009 Nissan Altima reportedly veered off the paved road, striking several objects, including a tree, and ejecting the man from the vehicle. The ejection caused life-threatening injuries, and despite lifesaving efforts, he was declared dead at the scene, according to the collision report.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
