A confrontation turns fatal as police apprehend a San Jose man for suspected homicide

San Jose police arrested a 32-year-old man from San Jose for allegedly killing another man during a fight on Monday.

Officers responded to a report of a fight at a business in the 1000 block of Leigh Avenue at 12:21 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a man who had assaulted another person, who was unconscious and not breathing.

Despite efforts by police and medical personnel to save him, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Leonardo Soulett, was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of homicide.

The motive and circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office once his identity has been confirmed, and his next of kin has been notified. This incident marks the city’s eighth homicide of 2024.
