Several lanes of Interstate 280 were shut down in the Los Altos Hills area Thursday afternoon due to a crash and spill, according to officials.

The Santa Clara County Fire Department said a truck carrying bleach was heading south on I-280 just before 1 p.m. when it crashed into the center divide, south of Magdalena Avenue. Bleach began leaking onto the freeway after the wreck.

As of 2 p.m., all but one lane of southbound traffic was blocked while two northbound lanes were closed.

Hazmat crews were called to the scene to help clean up the spill. The fire department said the spill posed no threat to the public.

No one was injured in the crash, according to the fire department.
