A man was arrested in connection with two homicides in San Jose after he allegedly flagged down a police officer and said he had committed a homicide, according to authorities.

The investigation began around 5:14 p.m. Saturday when a San Jose police patrol officer was flagged down by a man who alleged he had committed a homicide.

Officers responded to the area of Lelong and Alma avenues, where they found a man dead, police said.

The suspect, identified by police as Marcelino Castro, 28, of San Jose, was taken into custody.

During the investigation, Castro provided detectives with information about a second homicide in the area of Autumn Parkway and Coleman Avenue, according to police.

Detectives responded to that location and found a second person dead.

Castro was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on two counts of murder.

Police said the motive and circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation.

The deaths are being investigated as San Jose’s 20th and 21st homicides of 2026.
