Oakland bookstore closes after over 2 decades
Owners of the “Great Good Place for Books” bookstore in Oakland announced the store will close permanently on Sunday.
The store located in the Montclair neighborhood has been a community hub for over two decades, hosting author events, various themed parties and building a loyal base of readers.
But the owner says foot traffic never recovered after the COVID-19 pandemic, and the business is no longer financially sustainable.
The store closed on Sunday.
