Record March Heat Threatens Early End to Ski Season
An unusually intense March heat wave is likely to cut the ski season short, with several Tahoe resorts already shutting down and others reducing their operations.
Temperatures climbed into the mid to upper 60s on Friday, causing snow to rapidly melt at resorts such as Northstar, Heavenly, and Palisades Tahoe. While these resorts intend to remain open for at least a few more weeks, others—including Homewood and Dodge Ridge—have already wrapped up their seasons ahead of schedule.
