Salesforce CEO Retracts Support for National Guard Deployment in San Francisco

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff issued an apology for his earlier comments endorsing President Donald Trump’s plan to send federal troops to San Francisco.

In a post on X on Friday, Benioff wrote, “Having listened closely to my fellow San Franciscans and our local officials, and after the largest and safest Dreamforce in our history, I do not believe the National Guard is needed to address safety in San Francisco.”

The apology comes a day after a New York Times report revealed that Salesforce had promoted its AI services to help ICE rapidly recruit thousands of new agents. The report included screenshots of internal documents and a five-page memo outlining how “Salesforce is best suited to help the agency in new hires.”

Salesforce declined to comment on its business contracts with ICE, but Benioff’s retraction follows his recent public support for the National Guard deployment plan.
