San Jose Launches “AI for All” to Bring Artificial Intelligence Education to Every Resident
San Jose is reaffirming its role as a Silicon Valley innovation hub by launching “AI for All,” a citywide program that will give residents free access to artificial intelligence education and tools.
Mayor Matt Mahan announced the initiative during the GovAI Coalition Summit on Wednesday, highlighting a collaboration between the city, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, and the Bay Area Council.
“The AI revolution is here — and there’s no better place to be part of it than San Jose,” Mahan said in a statement. “This first-in-the-nation initiative ensures that everyone — from students to seniors — can take advantage of the opportunities AI offers while being prepared for its challenges. We’re shaping this new era for the collective good of humanity.”
According to the city, the AI for All platform will feature a unified online portal offering free courses, training programs, and certifications created by leading AI companies. The materials will be available in multiple languagesand designed for students, workers, and local businesses.
To ensure accessibility, the city will also make the program available at libraries and community centers for residents without reliable internet access.
A committee composed of representatives from the City of San Jose, the Bay Area Council, participating tech companies, and community organizations will oversee the rollout and ensure the program remains inclusive and equitable.
