San Jose police arrest 2 suspected in dozens of graffiti vandalisms

Two individuals suspected of being part of a well-known graffiti vandalism group targeting the South Bay were arrested last week, according to the San Jose Police Department.

The suspects, 23-year-old Sebastian Rodriguez, who used the graffiti tag “STAPLE,” and 26-year-old Brandon Arreola, known as “2LATE,” were taken into custody following the earlier April arrest of a third alleged member, Alex Garcia, who went by the tag “GOOB.”

Police say that from July 2023 to April 2025, Garcia was linked to roughly 100 acts of vandalism across commercial, public, and private properties in the South Bay. Investigators believe Garcia was part of the same group as Rodriguez and Arreola.

Rodriguez is reportedly connected to at least 17 incidents, while Arreola is tied to at least 14, according to authorities.

Law enforcement secured arrest and search warrants for both men. On September 3, Rodriguez was arrested at his Los Banos residence, where officers reportedly discovered a large quantity of spray paint, graffiti tools, and a firearm.

Arreola was arrested in San Jose, and police say they also found extensive graffiti-related materials at his home. Both were booked into Santa Clara County Jail on felony vandalism charges.

San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan commented in a statement: “If you missed the kindergarten lesson about not drawing on walls, the San Jose Police Department is happy to remind you. I appreciate our Chief and officers for treating these crimes seriously. The appearance of our city affects how people feel about living here. We can’t keep cleaning up after those who deface it—enforcement is essential.”
