A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in San Francisco’s Mission District

The San Francisco police homicide unit has arrested a man suspected of fatally shooting an individual in the Mission District on April 5, as per a press release issued on Saturday.

Alexander Martinez, 30 years old, from Richmond, was apprehended in Richmond and taken into custody around 10:20 p.m. on Friday following a nine-hour investigation by SFPD. He was subsequently booked for homicide at San Francisco County Jail #1. Earlier that day, officers responded to a shooting incident at approximately 1:37 p.m. in the 2300 block of Mission Street, where they discovered an adult male victim with gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by police and paramedics to save him, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

No information regarding the deceased’s identity was immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing and remains active.
