‘FanimeCon’ has taken over downtown San Jose.

FanimeCon, one of Northern California’s largest anime conventions, is happening this weekend at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.

On Saturday, fans dressed as their favorite characters, including Deadpool, Goku from Dragon Ball, Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series, and many others.

Attendees can enjoy events such as video game contests, talks by famous anime writers, voice actors, and content creators, and “make your own manga” workshops.

“Honestly, it’s been great,” said one attendee. “In the past few years, with COVID, you had to wear masks and show vaccine cards, which was very limiting. But for the first time, it feels like FanimeCon is back to how it used to be. So, I’m happy with it. I like it a lot.”

Each night, anime fans can rave until 2 a.m. as DJs play music. The convention continues until Monday.
