Eight people were displaced Wednesday evening in San Jose after a fire broke out at their residence, according to fire officials.

The fire was reported just after 7 p.m. in the 10100 block of Kenilworth Way in a one-story, single-family home.

Everyone in the house was safely evacuated and the fire was knocked down in about an hour, according to San Jose Fire.

The Red Cross is assisting the four adults and four children who are now displaced from the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
