Detectives from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal shooting at a Valley Transportation Authority facility in San Jose that left one person dead.

The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on Friday at VTA’s Chaboya Division Yard, located on the 2200 block of South 7th Street. Officers arrived to find a man with “at least one gunshot wound,” and he was pronounced dead at the scene after the arrival of the San Jose Fire Department and County EMS.

Sheriff’s officials have confirmed that the victim was a VTA employee, but they have not disclosed the individual’s identity.
