University of California receives over $4 billion in donations, CFO reports

The University of California system received over $4 billion in private donations for the first time during the past fiscal year, CFO Nathan Brostrom announced at a conference on Wednesday.

Philanthropic contributions reached $4.3 billion, with over half directed to health sciences and medical fields, Brostrom shared during a Q&A session at the Bond Buyer’s California Public Finance Conference.

“We’ve had an exceptionally strong year in fundraising across all 10 campuses,” he added, mentioning that the official figures will be presented at the upcoming Board of Regents meeting.
