Woman Arrested in Fatal San Jose Hit-and-Run Involving Her Passenger

A woman has been taken into custody following a deadly hit-and-run incident in San Jose over the weekend that left her passenger dead, according to police.San Jose police officers responded around 6:28 p.m. Saturday to reports of a possible hit-and-run involving a pedestrian on the 4900 block of McCoy Avenue. When officers arrived, they discovered a man lying in the eastbound lanes with critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Investigators later determined that the man had been riding as a passenger in a 2018 black Chevrolet Volt driven by a woman. While the car was traveling eastbound, the man exited the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. Authorities allege the driver left the area before police arrived.On Monday, detectives located the suspected driver in Sunnyvale and arrested her. She was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.The victim’s identity has not yet been released and will be disclosed by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.

Police noted that this crash represents San Jose’s 37th fatal collision and 38th traffic-related death of the year, including the city’s 19th pedestrian fatality in 2025.
