The Trump administration is investigating potential civil rights violations at San Jose State University and the University of Pennsylvania for allowing transgender athletes to compete in women’s sports. This follows President Trump’s executive order titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” which aims to prohibit transgender women from participating in female sports teams. The Department of Education has initiated inquiries into these institutions, focusing on their compliance with Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in education. 

In response to the executive order, the NCAA has revised its policy to restrict competition in women’s sports to athletes assigned female at birth. This change aligns with the administration’s directive and has been implemented across all NCAA member schools. 

These developments have sparked significant debate regarding the inclusion of transgender athletes in women’s sports, with discussions focusing on fairness, equality, and the interpretation of Title IX protections.
