San Jose Police Searching for Suspects After Smash-and-Grab Jewelry Store Heist

Authorities in San Jose are investigating a violent smash-and-grab robbery that took place Friday afternoon after a group of suspects drove a vehicle directly into the front entrance of a local jewelry store before making off with an undisclosed amount of merchandise.
Police said the incident occurred at approximately 2:09 p.m. at a store located on the 1900 block of Aborn Road. After crashing the vehicle through the storefront, multiple individuals rushed inside, shattering display cases and seizing jewelry. According to investigators, at least one of the suspects brandished a firearm during the robbery. The suspects then fled the scene in several vehicles, escaping before officers arrived.
Chris Moore, a local politician who campaigned last year for a seat on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, revealed in a post on the social media platform X that the shop is owned by the 88-year-old uncle of one of his friends. Moore reported that the elderly shopowner was injured by broken glass during the chaotic robbery and later suffered a stroke.
The San Jose Police Department confirmed that no arrests have been made and none of the suspects have yet been identified. The case is currently being handled by the department’s Robbery Unit, which is urging members of the public who may have information to come forward.
