According to authorities, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in San Jose on Saturday.

San Jose police announced via social media at 2:48 p.m. that the incident occurred in the vicinity of Saratoga Avenue and Belvedere Drive.

Emergency responders promptly took the injured individual to the hospital, where they unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.

Two lanes of southbound Saratoga Avenue, running from Blackford Circle to Belvedere Drive, have been closed as officers investigate.
