San Francisco firefighters save a 12-year-old stuck on a cliff at Fort Funston

San Francisco firefighters successfully saved a 12-year-old who was stranded on a 300-foot cliff at Fort Funston on Saturday afternoon.

Using a California Highway Patrol helicopter, a firefighter was lowered on a cable approximately 150 feet down the cliff to reach the boy, as explained by Lt. Mariano Elias.

The young boy, who fortunately sustained no injuries, had descended the sandy bluff but found himself unable to ascend back up.

Fort Funston, once a military site, now belongs to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and is situated on the southwest coast of San Francisco.
