A new Coca-Cola soda is launching, and it’s from Mexico

California shoppers may spot a new Coca-Cola product in stores this November: Barrilitos, a Mexican soda available in flavors like mandarin, apple, pineapple, and fruit punch.

Coca-Cola plans to roll out Barrilitos across California. Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, the soda will be produced in Mexico and shipped to the U.S.

Though Barrilitos dates back to 1938, Coca-Cola acquired the brand in 2008 and is now reintroducing it with a new formula to appeal to its U.S. Latino audience. Produced by Coca-Cola FEMSA, a major Mexican bottler, Barrilitos will feature its signature twist glass bottle and aims to deliver flavors that embody Mexican traditions and Latino culture.

According to Coca-Cola representatives, the relaunch of Barrilitos responds to growing demand in the U.S. for nostalgic drinks with cultural roots. The brand will compete with Jarritos, the popular neon-colored fruit sodas found in many Mexican stores and restaurants.

Barrilitos will be introduced in Texas in November, with Oklahoma following in 2025.
