Blue Angels cancel flight due to weather

The Blue Angels had to cancel their performance for Saturday’s Fleet Week Air Show because of weather conditions, according to the organization.
The annual fall event, running from October 7 to October 14, was scheduled to feature three separate air shows on Friday, October 11, Saturday, October 12, and Sunday, October 13.
Although the Blue Angels were set to be the main attraction, other aerial performances will still take place.
“The Blue Angels conducted an observation flight and determined that flying was unsafe due to the fog,” SF Fleet Week posted on Facebook. “They’ll return tomorrow. If you missed today’s show, get ready for an exciting performance tomorrow!”
Prior to Saturday’s scheduled performance, weather conditions were anticipated to potentially affect the flights.
San Francisco’s famous fog was expected to hinder Fleet Week’s exciting air show featuring the Blue Angels this weekend.
According to the Blue Angels, a high show requires a ceiling of at least 8,000 feet and visibility of at least three nautical miles. Under these conditions, the Blue Angels can showcase their signature rolls, loops, passes, and diamond formations.
For an overcast show, there needs to be a cloud ceiling of at least 4,500 feet, allowing pilots to perform some maneuvers, but not the rolling ones.
If the ceiling dropped to 1,000 feet, the performance would have been limited. The Blue Angels announced before the weekend that they would not fly if the clouds were lower than 1,000 feet.
