Twelve people have been arrested in connection with a mail theft and fraud operation in Santa Clara
Twelve individuals were arrested in Santa Clara earlier this month for their involvement in a mail theft ring, according to police.
On August 5, around 4:10 a.m., officers responded to a report of mail theft in the 1900 block of Hillebrant Place. Surveillance footage later captured someone fleeing the scene in a black Lexus. Detectives tracked and surveilled the vehicle, eventually stopping and detaining the driver.
The investigation revealed that the suspect was linked to a significant fraud ring specializing in mail theft in Santa Clara County. Detectives identified two fraudulently rented apartments used by the suspects for their operations. They obtained arrest and search warrants to disrupt the ring.
On Wednesday morning, detectives executed search warrants in Santa Clara and San Jose, resulting in the arrest of nine suspects. Another search at an apartment complex on Moreland Avenue led to the detention of three additional suspects.
During the searches, detectives uncovered a large amount of stolen mail, U.S. Postal service keys, uniforms, locks, narcotics, electronic gambling machines, and various stolen items including identification cards, checkbooks, passports, and credit cards. The twelve suspects were arrested for felony warrants and charges related to stolen property, narcotics, fraud, and resisting arrest.
The suspects have been identified as Ngoai Nguyen, 42; Melizza Hufana, 43; Raquel Tendencia, 34; Lim Vo, 30; Sean Finn, 43; Paolo Bartido, 39; Glenn Nguyen, 32; Vu Thi, 38; Dary Pech, 41; Christie Entac, 33; Eun Chong, 34; and Tiffany Terada, 42.
